These beautiful people, the native tribes of Alaska, have a unique heritage that celebrates and survives nature. Their artifacts are functional yet beautifully designed. Experience the historical exhibits of their everyday lives living in harmony with the land and their natural resources. See their artistic creativity in dance, music and artistic designs of their clothing, statues, and decorative arts. Known as Eskimos to the outside world, they actually are composed of eleven groups that speak twenty different languages. The museum, located north of Anchorage, Alaska, is dedicated to displaying the history of native Alaskans.

Totem Bight State Historical Park

From wood to art and literature, the totem collection shows the craftsmanship in carving, use of native materials for color, and storytelling heritage of the early Alaska cultures. Read the stories told by the 14 totem carvings found in the park at Ketchikan, Alaska.
